Nigerian Fintech OPay’s Revenue More Than Doubles

By Semafor·Edited by Editor TO·

OPay, the Lagos-based fintech company controlled by China’s Zhou Yahui, is preparing for a potential New York stock market listing following strong financial growth in the first half of 2026. According to OPay’s filing, first-half 2026 revenue jumped 137% to $467 million, while net income surged more than 300% to $91 million. Lending also overtook payments as the company’s largest source of revenue in that period. Previous reports have placed the company’s potential valuation at approximately $4 billion, although the company has not disclosed an IPO price range or confirmed a listing date. OPay also plans a secondary listing on the Nigerian Stock Exchange so local investors can participate. However, its filing warns that Nigerian-listed shares may not be exchangeable for American depositary shares traded in New York, potentially limiting liquidity.
