Nigeria’s non-oil exports reached $1.791 billion in the first quarter of 2025, marking a 24.75% increase from the same period in 2024. This growth highlights the country’s ongoing efforts to reduce its reliance on oil. According to the Nigeria Export Promotion Council (NEPC), 197 distinct products were exported, up from 162 in the previous year, with cocoa and its derivatives leading the charge. Other key exports included urea, cashew nuts, and gold. The volume of exports also saw a substantial increase. The NEPC’s efforts align with President Bola Tinubu’s agenda to diversify the economy, with exports to ECOWAS countries also experiencing significant growth.
