Nigeria’s exports have climbed by more than 25% over the past two years, driven by gains across oil and gas, manufacturing, and agriculture. Abubakar Dantsoho, Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority, credited partnerships with terminal operators and reforms designed to make export processing more efficient for the growth. He pointed to the establishment of four export processing terminals where exporters can complete procedures and resolve product standards issues before shipping. Dantsoho said these improvements could also help Nigeria benefit from the African Continental Free Trade Area. Nigerian ports, he added, now outperform several West African peers. To sustain this progress, the government plans to invest $1 billion in the modernization of Apapa Port. Beyond this, the NPA is also exploring the use of technology to improve port operations.
