Nigeria is preparing to ramp up oil production as the Nigerian National Petroleum Company moves to strengthen operations and deliver stalled projects. Speaking at an energy conference in Houston, Group CEO Bashir Bayo Ojulari said the country can increase output by about 100,000 barrels per day in the coming months. Nigeria produced roughly 1.6 to 1.7 million barrels daily last year but is now targeting an average of 1.8 million barrels per day in 2026. The push follows a broad review of the company’s portfolio aimed at improving project execution and efficiency. As global markets watch supply disruptions linked to tensions involving Iran, Nigeria hopes to modestly strengthen its role in stabilizing crude flows.
