Nigeria’s non-oil exports surged to $3.23 billion in the first half of 2025, a 19.6% jump from last year, according to the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC). Export volumes also increased to 4.04 million metric tons, with cocoa beans leading the pack at nearly 35% of total export value, followed by urea. The export basket broadened to 236 products, reflecting a steady shift from raw agricultural goods to higher-value, semi-manufactured products. NEPC credited this growth to expanded opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), rising demand from emerging economies, and stronger export capacity programs. Officials state that these gains align with the government’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” to diversify the economy.
