Senegal’s offshore Sangomar oil field, operated by Australia’s Woodside Energy, produced approximately 17.9 million barrels through the first half of 2026. Monthly output ranged narrowly between 2.8 and 3.1 million barrels from January through June, running slightly below last year’s average of 3 million barrels per month. Woodside is considering a second development phase that could raise production further. Senegal’s growing oil and gas sector helped drive economic growth to 6.7% last year, boosted exports, and narrowed the current account deficit. The latest production figures reinforce Senegal’s emergence as a significant energy producer, with officials hoping that expanding output will provide long-term fiscal stability while supporting broader economic development and public investment.
