Amni International and TotalEnergies have reached a final investment decision on an $800 million offshore natural gas project in Nigeria, marking one of the largest recent upstream gas investments in the country. The Ima gas project is expected to produce approximately 300 million standard cubic feet of gas per day at peak output. Production will supply Nigeria LNG’s Train 7 expansion, supporting an increase in the Bonny Island facility’s annual capacity from 22 million to 30 million metric tons. The state oil company, NNPC Ltd, said the investment was supported by reforms introduced under President Bola Tinubu, including fiscal incentives for gas developments, streamlined contracting procedures, and lower development costs. According to NNPC, the Ima project is the fourth major gas development to reach a final investment decision since the government’s 2024 oil-sector reforms.
