Olam Agri has disclosed plans to invest about $400 million in African food processing capacity by 2028. The company intends to build new animal feed mills in Nigeria, Cameroon, and Côte d’Ivoire. Olam Agri also intends to expand grain processing, wheat milling, and pasta production across the region, building on roughly $115 million invested in West African processing since 2024. In Nigeria, the company intends to build a third feed plant for poultry and fish, increase semolina capacity, and add 850 trucks to its distribution fleet. Olam says the investment will increase local processing, support value addition, and contribute to food security. At full capacity, the three planned feed mills are expected to require the purchase of 500,000 tons of corn and soybeans annually from over 130,000 smallholder farmers.
