Tanzanian government official addresses trade restrictions with Malawi and South Africa.
South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and US President Donald Trump have discussed the importance of strengthening bilateral ties between their countries. According to Ramaphosa, who revealed the conversation on social media, both leaders also discussed the Ukraine war and agreed on the urgency of ending it. Tensions had erupted between Washington and Pretoria over a controversial land reform law that Trump claimed unfairly targets white South Africans, as well as South Africa’s genocide case against Israel at the International Court of Justice. The diplomatic impasse escalated after the US expelled former South African ambassador Ebrahim Rasool. However, the impasse might be over soon as Trump and Ramaphosa resolved to meet soon to address the issues between their countries.
