A legal battle is intensifying in Ghana over a secretive migration agreement with the United States. The advocacy group Democracy Hub has filed a lawsuit against the Ghanaian government, arguing that its acceptance of deportees from the US is unconstitutional. The suit claims the arrangement was never approved by parliament and may violate international conventions by sending people to countries where they could face persecution. This comes as a new group of 14 West African nationals was recently deported from the US to Ghana, bringing the total to 42. Critics condemn the program as opaque and inhumane, noting that many deportees are held in poor conditions before being sent to other West African nations, sometimes regardless of their actual country of origin.
