Russia exported more than 11 million metric tons of agricultural products worth approximately $2.9 billion to African countries during the first half of 2026, marking a 40% increase in volume and a 35% rise in value compared with the previous year. Wheat accounted for more than 90% of shipments, totaling about 10.2 million metric tons, while barley, soybean oil, sunflower seed meal, beet pulp, and molasses also featured prominently. Egypt remained Russia’s largest African customer, importing 4.9 million metric tons, followed by Sudan, where purchases rose 62%. Kenya recorded one of the fastest growth rates, with imports increasing nearly tenfold, while Algeria and Libya also ranked among the top buyers. The figures underscore Russia’s expanding economic ties with Africa as the continent seeks reliable food supplies amid growing demand and global supply chain challenges.
