Official addresses US visa revocation concerns amid nationality mix-up.
South Sudan has condemned the US decision to revoke all visas held by its nationals, calling it unfair and based on mistaken identity. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who announced the decision, claimed the move followed South Sudan’s refusal to accept its citizens deported from the US “in a timely manner.” However, Juba insists the incident involved a Congolese national, not a South Sudanese. Officials say the individual was returned to the US and proof was shared with Washington. South Sudan’s foreign ministry expressed regret, warning that the sweeping measure risks undermining a longstanding partnership with the US.
