Thirteen years after its literary debut, Zimbabwean author Sue Nyathi’s hit novel The Polygamist is making its way to global screens. Netflix announced that the adaptation will premiere on June 12 as a 22-episode supernovela, marking the streaming service’s largest South African telenovela production to date. The story follows Jonasi Gomora, a wealthy businessman whose empire unravels amid tensions between his wives and mistresses, exploring themes of power, betrayal, and desire. Directed by award-winning filmmakers Akin Omotoso, Rolie Nikiwe, and Nthabi Tau, the series features an elite ensemble cast that includes Sdumo Mtshali and Gugu Gumede.
