Total Energies exploring oil offshore
TotalEnergies has struck new oil reserves offshore in the Republic of Congo, uncovering a 160-meter column of hydrocarbons that could yield over 100 million barrels. The discovery, spanning the Moho G and Moho H sites, strengthens the region’s position as a key energy hub. Crucially, its proximity to existing infrastructure means production can be scaled up quickly and cost-effectively. QatarEnergy, which holds a stake in the project, sees the find as a strategic boost to its growing global portfolio. With current output already around 90,000 barrels per day, the new reserves could significantly expand capacity, reinforcing Congo’s role in global energy markets and signaling continued investor confidence in African oil exploration.
