Medical team celebrates Ebola victory in Uganda after a successful three-month fight.
Uganda has officially declared the end of its latest Ebola outbreak, which began in January in Kampala, the nation’s capital. According to the Ministry of Health, 42 days have passed without new infections, marking a significant milestone in the country’s fight against the virus. Following the announcement, the World Health Organization (WHO) praised Uganda’s health ministry for its leadership and swift response. The outbreak, caused by the Sudan strain, marks Uganda’s ninth Ebola outbreak since 2000. Consequently, the country has a wealth of experience to rely on to control the disease despite being in a region prone to frequent outbreaks. This latest outbreak resulted in 14 reported cases and four deaths. However, 10 individuals fully recovered.
