The UK is hosting a high-level international conference to discuss pathways to peace in Sudan, riven by civil war for the past two years. The conflict, regarded as the world’s most devastating humanitarian crisis, has led to the displacement of over 12 million people and the deaths of tens of thousands. Despite this, the war shows no signs of slowing down, with humanitarian groups warning of escalating violence, including genocide in Darfur. The conference, co-chaired by the UK, EU, and African Union, aims to unite the international community around a common position, provide more relief, and work towards ending the war. Already, London has pledged an additional $159 million in food and medical aid to the country.
