Displaced Ethiopians gather essential supplies and water as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts.
The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced it will suspend aid for 650,000 malnourished women and children in Ethiopia, citing a severe funding gap. The UN agency further warned that without urgent financial support, 3.6 million people risk losing access to essential food aid in the coming weeks. With a predicted funding shortfall of $222 million, the WFP will not meet its goal of providing life-saving nutrition assistance to two million mothers and children in 2025. The halt in aid comes amidst ongoing conflict, drought, and instability in Ethiopia, which has left millions vulnerable. The situation is further exacerbated by renewed tensions with neighboring Eritrea and continued violence in the Amhara region.
