By Nairametrics·Edited by Editor TO·

Jumia Technologies has raised $50 million in fresh capital as the African e-commerce company works toward profitability and expands its marketplace and logistics operations. The funding includes a $25 million investment from the International Finance Corporation, alongside participation from major shareholder Axian and other investors. The deal saw investors agree to purchase 9.1 million American Depositary Shares at $5.52 each, with the transaction expected to close in the second half of August. The announcement accompanied second-quarter results showing revenue rose 14% year-over-year to $52 million, driven by stronger transaction volumes. Gross merchandise value and physical-goods orders also rose 23% and 28%, respectively, while its adjusted EBITDA loss narrowed 36% to $8.7 million. The company reaffirmed its target of reaching EBITDA breakeven by the fourth quarter of 2026, with full-year adjusted EBITDA profitability and positive cash flow expected in 2027.
