World Economic Forum in Africa
The World Economic Forum will bring its flagship Africa summit back to South Africa in April 2027, ending a seven-year pause triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic. Chido Munyati, WEF’s Head of Africa, confirmed the meeting will take place in either Johannesburg or Cape Town. The announcement underscores a renewed focus on Africa’s economic future, making the 2027 gathering a highly anticipated milestone for leaders and innovators eager to shape the continent’s trajectory. This revival promises a vital platform for tackling Africa’s most pressing opportunities, particularly large-scale job creation for its youthful population. Already, discussions at this year’s WEF in Davos are centering on powerful engines for growth like the African Continental Free Trade Agreement and the renewable energy sector.
