Elegant restaurant interior in Dakar, Senegal, showcasing modern decor and cozy dining ambiance.

A stylish dining space in Dakar with contemporary art, warm lighting, and comfortable seating for a memorable culinary experience.

With Africa as their leading inspiration, British-Nigerian artist Yinka Shonibare and Iranian-French architect India Mahdavi have transformed the dining room of London’s Sketch into a warm and inviting space bathed in rich yellows and textures. Beginning with a series of 15 of Shonibare’s artworks, which were designed specifically for the space and called ‘Modern Magic,’ Mahdavi developed a design scheme that referenced the colors and textures of the art. Shonibare’s Modern Magic installation includes five hand-carved wooden masks as well as 10 framed quilts, which replicate African masks collected by Spanish artist Pablo Picasso.
