TotalEnergies to Partner with Nigeria’s NNPC on $550 Million Gas Plant Investment

TotalEnergies and Nigeria’s NNPC Ltd will invest $550 million in a gas processing facility in Rivers state in a bid to enhance exports and local supplies. Besides the gas processing plant, the project will also the development of a pipeline on the Ubeta onshore gas field. The pipeline, jointly owned by Total and NNPC, will supply gas to the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) plant, a consortium involving NNPC, Shell, Total, and Italy’s Eni. When completed, the plant will deliver 350 million standard cubic feet of gas and 10,000 barrels of associated liquids daily. Given Nigeria flares gas from its oil fields due to lack of processing facility, the project is set to be a game changer for the country. Furthermore, experts believe that the project is a step in the right attraction, given it could signify that the government’s efforts to attract foreign investment into its energy sector is beginning to succeed.
