A panoramic view of Cairo showcasing its rich history and vibrant urban life, inspired by the theme of reimagined identities in art.

weekend in Cairo is less a getaway and more a whirlwind friendship with one of the world’s most chaotic and captivating cities. And in three days, you can experience the city enough to gain a bit of familiarity with it. During your visit, you will wander through ancient mosques, sip coffee in alleyway cafés, and feast on pigeon under starlit skies. Start Friday with pharaohs at the Egyptian Museum, then dine like royalty in Zamalek. On Saturday, wander through medieval streets to the Citadel and whirling dervishes. And on Sunday, indulge in liver sandwiches and literary nostalgia at Khan El Khalili. Outside of June to August, Cairo is comfortable enough for walks. Still, rides are affordable for most travelers. Don’t forget to pack for the weather.
