For Tyla, the occasion carries extra significance: she will also perform at the opening ceremony in Mexico City on June 11, giving her two appearances across the tournament’s historic tri-nation launch—the first World Cup to feature opening ceremonies across three host countries. Their inclusion reflects the growing global stature of African pop music and underscores the continent’s cultural influence on the world stage. The tournament will feature a record 104 matches across 16 host cities, concluding on July 19.
