Tyla and Rema to Perform at FIFA World Cup

South African singer Tyla and Nigerian Afrobeats star Rema are among the global headliners confirmed for the 2026 FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Los Angeles on June 12. The pair will perform alongside Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, and LISA at Los Angeles Stadium in what FIFA is billing as a landmark cultural celebration. For Tyla, the occasion carries extra significance: she will also perform at the opening ceremony in Mexico City on June 11, giving her two appearances across the tournament’s historic tri-nation launch—the first World Cup to feature opening ceremonies across three host countries. Their inclusion reflects the growing global stature of African pop music and underscores the continent’s cultural influence on the world stage. The tournament will feature a record 104 matches across 16 host cities, concluding on July 19.
