Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has been sworn in for a record seventh term in a ceremony attended by dignitaries from across Africa. Museveni, one of the world’s longest-serving heads of state, promised to use his new mandate to bolster Uganda’s economy, strengthen regional cooperation, and ensure stability. The 81-year-old also vowed to deliver more infrastructure and further transform the country’s economy. Museveni secured his seventh term in office in a January election, securing 71% of the vote. Meanwhile, his closest challenger, former rapper Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, secured 24%. Wine has since disputed the results, accusing the ruling party of electoral fraud.
