Zambia has taken a major step toward strengthening its energy sector with the launch of a 50 MW solar plant in Mansa District, Luapula Province. The $48 million project marks the province’s first significant power investment in over six decades. It features over 1,500 solar panels and is a key component of Zambia’s ambitious goal to reach 10,000 MW of installed capacity by 2030. The facility is expected to boost electricity reliability, support mining activities, and create jobs. According to Energy Minister Makozo Chikote, the plant has already helped reduce load shedding across the country. As more projects line up, Zambia is positioning solar power as a key driver of economic growth and energy security.
