Kenya Claims the Top Spot for Olympic Medals in Africa

Kenya emerged as Africa’s top performer in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, winning the most medals of any country on the continent, with four gold, two silver, and five bronze medals. Kenya’s standout performances include Beatrice Chebet’s victories in the 5,000m and 10,000m races, Emanuel Wanyonyi’s gold in the 800 meters, and Faith Kipyegon’s Olympic Record in the 1,500 meters. Algeria ranks second, with two historic gold medals by Kaylia Nemour and Imane Khelif and one bronze. South Africa is third with a gold medal in swimming through Tatjana Schoenmaker, three silver and two bronze. Ethiopia follows in fourth place, with one gold in the men’s marathon by Tamirat Tola and three silver medals. Egypt rounds out Africa’s top five, earning one gold in modern pentathlon by Ahmed Elgendy and two bronze.
