Mark Darko, the CEO of Ghana’s Chamber of Cannabis Industry, has unveiled an ambitious plan to generate $1 billion annually from the country’s burgeoning cannabis industry. Darko made this revelation while speaking at the opening of the Chamber of Cannabis Training Center in Accra, where farmers will be trained on how to cultivate and process the crop. During his speech, Darko emphasized the industry’s potential to rejuvenate Ghana’s economy, noting that one hectare of cannabis could yield at least $10,000 in revenue. The global cannabis market, estimated to reach $21 billion in 2025, presents lucrative opportunities for Ghana, particularly after the adoption of the Narcotics Control Commission Bill, which permits cannabis cultivation for industrial use. With the assistance of Sky Bridge Pharmaceuticals, the training center will equip farmers with sustainable cultivation techniques to ensure the cultivation of cannabis that meets global standards.
