Global architecture firm Foster + Partners has unveiled plans for Icolo e Bengo Aerotropolis, a vast airport-centered city designed to boost Angola’s global profile and economic growth. The development, built around the new Dr. Antonio Agostinho Neto International Airport near Luanda, will unfold across three districts linked by a 42-kilometer green loop of parks and public transport. The north zone will anchor business and culture, the west will focus on research and innovation, and the south will host a hospitality hub near Quisama National Park. Emphasizing environmental integration, the design incorporates native landscaping, rainwater management, and extensive solar panels for renewable energy. This ambitious aerotropolis represents a holistic vision to attract international visitors, create local opportunities, and position Luanda as a future-facing regional hub.
