Africa Cup of Nations 2027 confirmed for summer

Celebrating Africa Cup of Nations 2027 victory with jubilant players and fans.

Despite swirling doubts about infrastructure readiness, the next Africa Cup of Nations tournament is set to be held in East Africa from June to July 2027. CAF President Patrice Motsepe firmly shut down postponement rumors during a Dar es Salaam press conference. He expressed unwavering confidence in the three host nations—Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. This summer slot marks a departure from the tournament’s traditional December-to-February timeline, helping it avoid clashes with European club seasons that plagued previous editions. While Kenya’s local organizing committee chair suggested a 2028 delay might ease election-year pressures, Motsepe insists the tournament will proceed as planned. Meanwhile, the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations remains firmly in Morocco’s hands despite South Africa’s offer to step in.
