Nigeria and Morocco are moving closer to finalizing a major $25 billion Atlantic gas pipeline designed to strengthen regional energy trade and expand exports to Europe. Officials from both countries said that President Bola Tinubu and King Mohammed VI are expected to sign an intergovernmental agreement in late 2026 after technical studies on the Nigeria-Morocco Gas Pipeline are completed. The 6,900-kilometer hybrid offshore and onshore project is expected to transport up to 30 billion cubic meters of gas annually, with half reserved for supply to Morocco and exports to Europe. Beyond energy, the two countries are also discussing cooperation in fertilizer production and distribution under the African Continental Free Trade Area. Leaders hope the project will boost economic integration, improve food security, and deepen commercial ties between West and North Africa through renewed business partnerships and investment initiatives.
