Inaugural Pan-African Architecture Biennale Set for Debut

The Pan-African Biennale (PAB), the first continental architecture event dedicated to African spatial practices, has revealed participants for its inaugural 2026 edition in Nairobi. Founded by architect Omar Degan, the event aims to establish Africa as a leading voice in global architectural discourse rather than a peripheral contributor. Organized around the theme Shifting the Center: From Fragility to Resilience, the biennale will bring together architects, designers, researchers, and community-based practitioners from across the continent, including Djamel Klouche, Banga Coletivo, Raas Architects, and MASS Design Group. The participants represent fields ranging from architecture and urbanism to heritage preservation and community-based design. They represent dozens of countries, including Nigeria, Morocco, Senegal, and Zimbabwe. The exhibition is organized around three thematic strands, which will frame discussions on climate, vernacular building traditions, and future spatial imaginaries.
