Cape Town has been ranked the world’s second-best beach destination for travelers seeking experiences beyond traditional seaside vacations, according to a new study by cruise operator Sail Croatia. The study, which evaluated 40 coastal destinations globally, ranked Cape Town behind only Sardinia, Italy. Researchers highlighted Cape Town’s nearly 700 adventure activities, including paragliding, shark cage diving, kitesurfing, hiking, and mountain biking. Beyond these, Cape Town offers over 850 wildlife and nature experiences, allowing visitors to combine ocean adventures with encounters featuring penguins, whales, and other wildlife. The ranking reinforces Cape Town’s position as one of Africa’s premier tourism destinations, where mountains, beaches, food, wine, and outdoor activities converge. The recognition could further boost tourism in a sector that remains a vital contributor to South Africa’s economy.
