Adesanya and Du Plessis Declare Africa the Winner of UFC Title Bout

Israel Adesanya and Dricus du Plessis have put their rivalry behind them after their historic all-African title bout at UFC 305, where Du Plessis defeated Adesanya. Despite the tension leading up to the fight, both fighters agreed that Africa was the true winner of the night. Before the event, Du Plessis had stirred controversy by claiming he was the UFC’s “first real African champion,” a statement that angered Adesanya. However, after the fight, Du Plessis gave Adesanya a jacket with the South African flag as a gesture of respect. Adesanya also expressed his respect for Du Plessis stating that he will inspire the next generation of African fighters, like himself, Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou had done.
