Top Woman Entrepreneur Finalist

Africa Communications Media Group (ACG) is thrilled to announce that Co-Founder and Group CEO Mimi Kalinda has been selected as a finalist for this year’s prestigious Standard Bank Top Women Award

“We believe that now more than ever, it is crucial to recognize the companies and individuals such as Mimi Kalindawho are making impactful change for gender empowerment in South Africa,” explains Topco Media, Head of Marketing, Karla Fletcher.

The Standard Bank Top Women Awards honors those whose unfailing vision and innovative leadership have positively impacted women in South Africa. In response to the unprecedented global pandemic, the awards have moved to become completely virtual. “The pivot to a virtual format means that we have the opportunity to increase our footprint across the country like never before. We aim to reach 10,000 businesswomen and entrepreneurs during the virtual conference and awards,” Fletcher adds.

The virtual event will salute those accelerating transformation and creating awareness around women empowerment while also facilitating discussions and workshops around furthering gender empowerment in the country.

Excited to receive news of the nomination, Kalinda shares that her passion is in telling the African story. “Our continent has had a negative reputation that has affected its development across all spheres. Many talk about shifting this narrative and as an African, I have made it my mission to portray a positive perspective of the continent.”

The Standard Bank Top Women Award winners will be announced on the evening of 2 October 2020 at the virtual award ceremony. Finalists and winners will have the opportunity to virtually network and engage during the conference taking place over 1 – 2 October 2020.

We encourage every female and organization to put forward their success stories with regards to gender empowerment. Submit your entry here to be considered for this year’s Standard Bank Top Women Awards.

We are committed to Africa.

Unlike many global publications, for nearly a decade we have been committed to showing a complete picture of Africa – not just a single story.  Offended by one-sided coverage of wars, disasters and disease, the founders of Africa.com created a website that provides a balanced view of Africa – current events, business, arts & culture, travel, fashion, sports, information, development, and more.
