Landmark Pan-African Campaign Launches On Africa Day, May 25th
The #NotWaiting Movement provides undeniable proof of Africa’s progress, innovation, and opportunity.
Today, on Africa Day, one of the most consequential storytelling movements goes live. #NotWaiting, a pan-African digital campaign by the Opportunity Africa Initiative, launches across digital platforms today not as an announcement, but as a statement of fact.
#NotWaiitng does not ask the world to believe in Africa. It shows the world what it has already missed: Africa is already moving. Entrepreneurs are scaling businesses at speed. Youth are turning creativity into global cultural influence. Communities are transforming resilience into localised innovation, and the diaspora is bridging continental ambition to global capital and networks. This is not a collection of rare success stories. It is the pattern of an entire continent in motion.
#NotWaiting exists to close the gap between Africa’s lived reality and the world’s perception of it. By making Africa’s audacity unavoidable, the campaign moves the global conversation past struggle and towards momentum. The campaign calls on brands, corporates, media houses, content creators, and builders to become part of a single, coordinated signal of Africa’s progress, innovation, and opportunity.
Participation is simple and deliberate: Post on social media showcasing they’re building Africa, using #NotWaiting, sign the campaign Manifesto at www.notwaiting.africa, and share a story of their work, impact, and innovation at www.notwaiting.africa.

Moky Makura, Executive Director, Africa No Filter, said: “This is not a campaign about Africa’s future. It is a record of Africa’s present. We have spent too long trying to convince people that Africa is worth their attention. The truth is, Africa stopped waiting for that validation a long time ago. #NotWaiting is not a campaign about Africa’s future. It’s a mirror held up to those who have been slow to see its present. The builders are already building. The only question now is whether the rest of the world is paying attention or playing catch-up.”
Thebe Ikalafeng, Chancellor of Sol Plaatje University and Founder of Brand Africa, said: “Africa has always been more powerful than the world was willing to price it. What #NotWaiting does is force a repricing. This is not narrative management — it is correction. Africa is not emerging. Africa is not rising. Africa has arrived, and it is now setting the terms. #NotWaiting is a signal that has become undeniable.”
