London is currently home to one of the most dazzling collections of ancient Egyptian treasures ever assembled outside of Egypt. The Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold exhibition at Battersea Power Station features more than 180 artifacts, including the gleaming golden mask of King Amenemope, a rare relic from Egypt’s Twenty-First Dynasty. The exhibition is as much a feat of diplomacy as it is of design, with artifacts traveling thousands of miles under tight security in a complex international operation. Having already dazzled cities from Houston to Tokyo, the show now invites Londoners to experience Egypt’s grandeur, with proceeds helping to fund vital conservation efforts, including the restoration of Ramesses II’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings.
