As war in the Middle East chokes global energy routes, Africa’s largest refinery is stepping up. The Dangote Refinery has shipped roughly 17 gasoline cargoes to other African nations and boosted urea fertiliser exports, offering a vital alternative for buyers hit by supply disruptions from the Iran conflict. Chairman Aliko Dangote assured that Nigeria and countries across West Africa, Central Africa, and East Africa can all count on the 650,000-barrel-per-day facility. The refinery is already running at full capacity and plans to more than double output to 1.4 million barrels daily, potentially becoming the world’s largest. With crude prices hovering near $110 a barrel, Dangote’s decision to redirect shipments to African nations is cushioning the continent’s inhabitants from the global spike in food and fuel costs.
