De Beers has announced the discovery of a new kimberlite field in Angola, marking its first major find in 30 years. The joint venture with Angola’s state-owned Endiama struck kimberlite in its very first drill hole in July 2025, igniting fresh optimism about the region’s diamond potential. Over the coming months, the team will conduct further drilling, surveys, and laboratory tests to determine the quality and diamond content of the rock. The discovery follows De Beers’ return to Angola in 2022 after a decade-long absence, backed by new investment and exploration agreements. Meanwhile, parent company Anglo American plans to sell De Beers to focus on copper and iron ore—sparking interest from billionaires and investors worldwide.
