The Ethiopian government has announced an ambitious second-phase corridor development project aimed at transforming Addis Ababa’s infrastructure and landscape. According to the Office of the Prime Minister, the project will span 2,879 hectares and involve the construction of 477 km of roads—comprising 240 km of asphalt roads and 237 km of pedestrian walkways. In addition, over 200 public recreational spaces and parking centers will be established, along with electric vehicle charging stations at 58 locations. To promote eco-friendly transportation, the initiative will also create more than 100 km of bike lanes. Furthermore, it will build 17 sports centers to encourage physical activity among residents. This comprehensive project is designed to modernize transportation networks, enhance urban amenities, and ultimately position Addis Ababa as a model city with cutting-edge infrastructure tailored to meet the needs of its citizens.
