Exploring the Spiritual and Ancestral Ties of his Xhosa Heritage through Clay

South African ceramicist and Design Indaba Emerging Creative, Andile Dyalvane is presenting his latest exhibition, “Oonomathotholo,” at Friedman Benda gallery in New York. Known for his deeply personal and culturally resonant works, the featured work centers on the theme of ancestral whispers passed down through generations in Dyalvane’s Xhosa culture. The title refers to these “whispers,” symbolizing the connection to his ancestors and their spiritual influence.
