How live shows power Nigeria’s music boom

10

Nigerian artists earned an estimated $395 million from touring and live performances in 2024/2025, underscoring concerts and festivals as the industry’s main revenue engine. According to Basslines to Billions: Nigeria’s Music Market Intelligence Report, live events accounted for roughly 66% of total artist income, driven by rising demand and the expanding global touring reach of Nigerian stars. Streaming followed with about $181 million, or 30% of revenues, highlighting steady growth but a secondary role compared to physical shows. Industry voices say this shift has reduced radio’s direct financial influence, even as it remains vital for discovery. Looking ahead, projections show Nigeria’s music industry could reach $1 billion by 2033, signaling sustained momentum.
