Morocco is rolling out a nationwide network of artificial intelligence hubs to ensure the benefits of new technologies extend far beyond major cities. Under its Digital Morocco 2030 strategy, the government has launched the Jazari Institutes across all twelve regions, each designed to tackle local challenges—from renewable energy in Dakhla and water management in Guelmim to smart cities in Marrakech and robotics in the industrial north. Coordinated by a central hub in Rabat, the initiative aims to build a bottom-up approach to innovation while strengthening public services and economic growth. Backed by $145 million in government funding and buoyed by rising investor interest, officials hope the program will attract startups, create jobs, and prevent AI from deepening Africa’s urban-rural digital divide.
