Meet Africa’s 10 Oldest Billionaires in 2025

Despite being the world’s youngest continent, Africa’s wealth remains concentrated in the hands of its older billionaires, reflecting deep-rooted economic structures. At 93, Eswatini’s Nathan Kirsh tops the list with a $7.3 billion fortune from retail and real estate. Morocco’s Othman Benjelloun, 92, follows with $1.6 billion in banking and insurance, while 83-year-old South African retail magnate Christoffel Wiese ranks third. Algeria’s Issad Rebrab, South Africa’s Nicky Oppenheimer, and Egypt’s Youssef Mansour rank fourth, fifth, and sixth, with fortunes of $2.5 billion, $9.5 billion, and $1.3 billion, respectively. Mohamed Mansour, from Egypt, and South Africans Michiel Le Roux, Johann Rupert, and Koos Bekker, make up the top 10. These billionaires, who built their empires in volatile markets, continue to dominate industries such as energy, real estate, and banking—sectors that require time and deep networks.
