Morocco bets on AI to boost economy

Ghana boosts local gold refining industry for economic growth and sustainable development.

Morocco has unveiled an ambitious national strategy aiming to add $10 billion to its GDP through artificial intelligence by 2030. The plan focuses on building sovereign data centers, expanding cloud infrastructure, and cultivating an AI-skilled workforce. To fuel that growth, the country plans to train 200,000 graduates in AI skills and create 50,000 related jobs within the decade. Meanwhile, a landmark partnership with French AI firm Mistral AI will support the development of local generative AI tools. This initiative is part of a broader $1.2 billion digital transformation fund and includes a major renewable energy-powered data center in Dakhla. The government is also preparing dedicated AI legislation, signaling a comprehensive push to establish Morocco as a regional AI excellence hub
