Nike Tops Africa’s Brand Rankings for Ninth Year

The 2026 Brand Africa 100 rankings show a modest recovery for African brands, which increased their share of the Top 100 most admired brands to 15%, up from 11% in 2025. However, the continent’s 10 most admired brands remain entirely foreign, led by Nike for a ninth consecutive year, followed by Adidas, Samsung, Apple, and Coca-Cola. MTN remains the highest-ranked African brand at 11th place, while South African fashion labels including GALXBOY, MaXhosa, and Redbat gained recognition across the continent. The report links the rebound to growing continental confidence, stronger regional cooperation, and renewed focus on African markets. It also highlights a persistent disconnect: Africans overwhelmingly believe African countries are driving the continent’s progress, yet consumer loyalty continues to favor international brands.
