Founded by Chicago rapper and activist Noname (Fatimah Nyeema Warner), the Noname Book Club began in 2019 as a grassroots initiative to promote political education through literature. The club connects Black readers worldwide with radical works by Black, Indigenous, and people of color authors. Since 2021, it has expanded into prisons, sending books to over 1,500 incarcerated individuals, and now boasts chapters in cities like Lagos, Accra, Nairobi, and Dakar. The club fosters community and collective learning, aiming to make revolutionary literature accessible to all, regardless of location or incarceration status.
