Rare blue diamond unearthed in South Africa

Raw gold ore for refining in Ghana, supporting local mining industry.

A spectacular and exceptionally rare blue diamond, potentially worth up to $40 million, has been discovered at South Africa’s legendary Cullinan Mine. Remarkably, the 42-carat rough stone is naturally shaped like the African continent. Blue diamonds are among the world’s rarest gems, constituting fewer than 0.1% of all natural diamonds, and form under extreme geological conditions. This particular find is celebrated for its apparent exceptional color and clarity. Experts are now carefully analyzing the stone to plan its cut and eventual sale. The famed mine was also the source of the historic Cullinan Diamond, parts of which adorn the British Crown Jewels. This dazzling discovery brings a welcome sparkle to the diamond industry after recent market challenges.
