President Felix Tshisekedi recently weighed in on why African countries, especially the Democratic Republic of Congo, are increasingly leaning towards doing business with Russia and China over the West. According to the Russian newspaper Sputnik, Tshisekedi stated that Russia and China are less sneaky when it comes to conducting business in Africa than countries in the West. According to him, apart from being less preachy and less arrogant, the two countries have also treated the DRC with more respect than the West. Tshisekedi went on to maintain the right of African countries to associate with whomever they wish, stating “There are no reasons” for refusing friendship with Russia if it extends a hand.
