Sudan has alleged that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) directly orchestrated attacks on Port Sudan, marking a significant escalation in Sudan’s ongoing civil war. According to Khartoum’s ambassador to the UN, the recent May 4 attack on Port Sudan was launched from a UAE military base, supported by Emirati naval vessels in the Red Sea. This is the first time Sudan has claimed direct military involvement by the UAE, which it had previously accused of arming the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The UAE has denied these allegations. Port Sudan, once a refuge for government officials and aid organizations, has recently been targeted by multiple drone strikes, hitting army facilities, the main airport, and fuel depots. Sudan is urging international bodies, including the UN, African Union, and Arab League, to investigate and hold those responsible accountable.
