Türkiye and Niger Deepen Ties Through New Deals

Türkiye and Niger have strengthened bilateral relations by signing a series of cooperation agreements following talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Nigerien President Abdourahamane Tchiani. The agreements cover key sectors including higher education, healthcare, trade, diplomacy, and strategic studies. Among the deals is a 2026–2030 framework aimed at expanding collaboration in higher education, research, and innovation. The two countries also established a Joint Economic and Trade Commission to boost commercial ties and economic cooperation. In healthcare, officials signed a protocol for the joint management and eventual transfer of the Niger-Türkiye Friendship Hospital, a flagship project in their partnership. Additional agreements focus on diplomatic training and strategic studies, underscoring both countries’ commitment to broadening cooperation. The accords reflect growing political and economic engagement between Ankara and Niamey amid evolving regional partnerships.
